Cupola Now a Shining Beacon for the Arts

Written by Lynn Long. Posted in The Barn News

Until recently, the cupola at The Barn (formerly called Resthaven Barn) was the only one of the Mariemont Cupolas that was not lit up at night. Other cupolas in the neighborhood include Mercy St. Theresa, Mariemont Elementary School, and the former Dale Park Elementary school. Thanks to a gift from the Woman's Art Club of Cincinnati, two new LED lights shine on the cupola from dusk til 11pm. Check it out next time you're driving by!

Are you looking for instruction space to teach an arts-related class? The Barn (Woman's Art Club Cultural Center) offers three teaching rooms for artists to rent as classroom space:

Lindner Classroom (approx. max of 15 students at easels, 18 students at tables)

Tack Room (approx. max of 10 students at easels, 12 students at tables)

Gallery (for dance or acting classes)

The cost is $25 for a three-hour or shorter block of time. Workshops from 9 - 4 with an hour break for lunch are $50 per day (considered as two 3-hour time blocks). Multi-day workshops are $75 for any day that the student's work stays up from the morning into the next day. Teachers handle all communication, registration and payment from students.

Teachers have taught such diverse classes as watercolor, oils, painting & drawing, pastels, jewelry-making, printing, portraiture, ballroom dance and improv. We have tables, chairs, easels, small "personal tables" to use with easels, and drawing boards on hand for classes to use. If interested, please contact the Director for a tour of the space & to find out how we can assist you with class promotion.
